Ashanti Stars In Live Action Movie, Honey Girls

December 8, 2021,

To find your place in the world, you have to compete.

For anything and everything.

Boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, schools, colleges, jobs, houses and virtually everything else.

Some things are fun to compete for, others not so much.

On the list of fun things to compete for, especially as a teen, we would think a singing contest would be higher on the fun list.

There is a movie out, which speaks to that.

The entertainment leaders at sonypictures.com announce, “Three young musicians participate in a talent competition to discover the next great solo artist, hosted by global pop-star Fancy G (Ashanti). The competitors quickly discover that they are “better together” and form a secret band called HONEY GIRLS that has an immediate viral mega hit!  Performing in disguise to avoid detection and elimination by Fancy G, these three competitors must ultimately decide what is more important – fame or friendship.”

Fame or friendship. Which is more important? What do you think?

Can’t we have both?

Don’t forget money. We really want that as a companion. The three headed stuffed Teddy Bear.

Ashanti is the perfect host for the competition. Her resume speaks to that.

Ashanti is an American singer, songwriter, and actress.

She was first discovered as a teenager and later signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002.

See what we mean? She was discovered as a teenager too.

That year, she was featured on Fat Joe‘s “What’s Luv?” and Ja Rule‘s “Always on Time“, both of which became two of the biggest hit songs of 2002. She became the first female artist to occupy the top two positions on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously with “Foolish” and “What’s Luv?” at numbers one and two, respectively.

In 2002, Ashanti released her eponymous debut album, which sold over 505,000 copies throughout the U.S. in its first week of release.

The album earned her many awards, including eight Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, and a Grammy Award in 2003 for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

The album has since been certified triple platinum in the United States and sold six million copies worldwide by the end of 2003.

The lead single for the album, “Foolish“, was a critical and commercial success; it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. With “Foolish”, she became the second artist (after The Beatles) to have their first three chart entries in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. Ashanti wrote and sang for Jennifer Lopez‘s “Ain’t It Funny (Murder Remix)“, which also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

So her career continues to go, upward.

Playing this part of the Decision Maker in Honey Bear fits like a paw.

Sony is partnering with Build-A-Bear Entertainment in producing the film.
