May 17, 2022,
Wonderful, enjoyable and sociable youthful traditions will endure.
Eating delicious hamburgers is one of those traditions.
What would College Game Day be without some burgers on the grill with some tasty fries and pickles?
Perhaps today it would be an ice cold Zero Sugar soda.
Being young and enjoying hamburgers with friends is something to be cherished.
Americans devour nearly 50 billion burgers each year.
College students and hamburgers have had a love affair for decades, broiling with affection way back to the 1950’s.
Those drive-ins during that decade spawned many life-long partnerships.
A drive-in theater or drive-in cinema is a form of cinema structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand, and a large parking area for automobiles.
Within this enclosed area, customers can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars.
Young couples loved that.
Originally, the movie’s sound was provided by speakers on the screen and later by individual speakers hung from the window of each car, which were attached to a small pole by a wire.
The good old days.
With the expansion of fast food restaurants, the love for hamburgers have mostly moved inside.
A fast food restaurant, is a specific type of restaurant that serves fast food cuisine and has minimal table service. The food served in fast food restaurants is typically part of a “meat-sweet diet“, offered from a limited menu, cooked in bulk in advance and kept hot, finished and packaged to order, and usually available for take away, though seating may be provided.
The term “fast food” was recognized in a dictionary by Merriam–Webster in 1951.
Arguably, the first fast food restaurants originated in the United States with White Castle in 1921.
In the United States, consumers spent about $110 billion on fast food in 2000, which increased from $6 billion in 1970.
Tons of history there.
Today, there is innovation on a historical theme.
The team at peta.org remind, “These days, almost everyone knows that going vegan is the best way to help animals, reduce your impact on the environment, and improve your personal health. That’s why conscious consumers are ditching meat and disingenuously named “veggie” burgers that contain milk or eggs and are instead opting to buy from brands that produce 100% vegan burgers.”
Okay, we appreciate the reminder.
Before those college football games, we can add some vegan hamburgers to the menu as well.
Nothing like progress and tradition.
Speaking of progress, we have noticed a group that produces hamburgers that appear to be leaning towards adults but college students might want to see how the other half lives.
