November 11, 2022,
In a time of constant change and transitions, some of them unwanted but unstoppable, you need to make plans.
Alternate plans to plan A or no plan at all.
Don’t fail to plan. That is not a good idea.
So, if you are going to plan, you might as well become good at it.
A basic definition would be nice.
Planning is the process of thinking regarding the activities required to achieve a desired goal.
Simply put, look at where you were, where you are, and most important, where you want to go.
Even if you ball park it. That is the starting place for making your personal plan.
If you are young, this may be something new to you but you have to have the capacity to think ahead. Early. Right now.
The team at Psychology Today (psychologytoday.com share, “Thoughtful planning for the future is essential, and the damage done when we fail to take a hard look at the possible consequences of today’s actions is familiar to us all. Financial planners have jobs for good reason!”
Nice insight.
The group at courses.lumenlearning.com adds, “In today’s chaotic environment, planning more than a few months in advance may seem futile. Progress, however, is rarely made through random activity. Planning does provide benefits that facilitate progress even when faced with uncertainty and a constantly changing environment.”
Planning is not just a professional activity, it is a feature of everyday life, whether for career advancement, organizing an event or even just getting through a busy day.
Very important. Planning is a fundamental property of intelligent behavior.
It involves the use of logic and imagination to visualize not only a desired end result, but the steps necessary to achieve that result.
How are we doing so far?
You can start by making plans for small goals then increase as you find success. It is very important to write those goals down.
Now that we have the basics, let’s walk over to the bookstore.
We like this one.

No other life list book offers research-validated information on why certain steps matter in goal accomplishment, or even how goals are connected with any type of life satisfaction.”
Readers will feel both educated and inspired to start writing goal-setting lists in order to live their lives more consciously, productively, and happily.”
We sense we would all like that.
Our emphasis on planning here, due to our experience, if you don’t take the time to think about your life plan when you are young, then life and others will plan it for you. Based upon our own personal experience, that is absolutely horrible.
You could eventually find yourself trapped in situations that are not good for your soul.
We remember one young person saying that she liked to be told what to do.
If that is your thinking, we strongly urge you to change that pattern. Learn to think and plan for yourself.
You want your planning to first become a choice, a decision that you have made, and then it becomes a habit that carries over into many areas, improving your life until it becomes your personal characteristic trait.
Your confidence will tend to grow.
Even if things do not go exactly as planned, they will come close. The next time, most like your achievement will be closer to plan. Like any endeavor, the more you do it, the better you get at it.
Watch and see.
While you are young, take the time to think about a plan for your future that includes how you want to make a living, save a lot of money, take care of your health but most important, a plan that is good for your soul.
You are worth it.
