June 9, 2023,
This task will be performed.
That is a given.
The only question for you is, are you doing it because you want to or doing it because you have to?
When most of us were young, we were called to the family dinner table.
Do you go because you had to or because you wanted to?
That is an easy answer.
It depended upon what there was to eat.
We are from the South. Texas A&M. Aggie Land.
Let’s see. Fried chicken, pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad with mayonnaise dressing, soft fried corn bread, baked candy yams, thick dark chocolate cake and some Big Red soda.
Have that?
You’re coming to the dinner table because you want to.
One of our associates had a fantastic teenage job working at an Ice Cream parlor, restaurant.
It was a great hang out place when cheerleaders from the region would come in to celebrate their birthdays, girlfriends would hang out together and have ice cream and children would become so happy when you sang celebrating their birthday.
He went to work because he wanted to. It was like not working. It was the best job he ever had and unfortunately for him, ever would have.
Don’t worry. He’s still happy. It is all about philosophy.
Don’t be sad it is over, be extremely glad it happened.
What about you?
When it comes to work, it often is, “I do it because I have to”.
Really? That is unfortunate. Especially if you are going to spend the next 20 to 25 years doing so.
Time to be inspired. Movie time.
The Social Network is a 2010 American biographical drama film directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin, based on the 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich.
It portrays the founding of social networking website Facebook.
It stars Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, with Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, Armie Hammer as Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Max Minghella as Divya Narendra.
A major critical and commercial success, the film grossed $224 million on a $40 million budget and was widely acclaimed by critics.
It was named one of the best films of the year by 78 critics (count ‘em 78), and named the best by 22 critics, the most of any film that year.
It was also chosen by the National Board of Review as the best film of 2010.
At the 83rd Academy Awards, it received eight nominations, including for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Eisenberg, and won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing. It also received awards for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.
The Social Network has maintained a strong reputation since its initial release, and is commonly cited by critics as one of the best films of the 2010s and 21st century.
Now for the storyline.
On October 28, 2003, 19-year-old Harvard University sophomore Mark Zuckerberg is dumped by his girlfriend, Erica Albright. Returning to his dorm, Zuckerberg writes an insulting post about Albright on his LiveJournal blog. He creates a campus website called Facemash by hacking into college databases to steal photos of female students, then allowing site visitors to rate their attractiveness.
It is a massive hit. It just keeps getting bigger from there.
That is a job that a lot of guys would love to have. You do it because you want to.
Hopefully working at Facebook is still that way.
Okay, as you might guess, we are setting you up.
What job would you really love to do? The kind you get paid for. Yes, being an entrepreneur and being your own boss is ideal, but, often that is a little further down the line.
We need some help.
Time to walk to the bookstore. This could be a keeper.
