October 13, 2023,
She’s got jokes.
Hopefully funny ones.
As shared by tennisworldusa.org, “After beating Kenin, Kasatkina jokingly asked the crowd if there was anything other than alcohol that could help her mind switch off tennis for a bit.”
The winners write history. Sometimes with jokes.
Daria Kasatkina is currently the Russian No. 1 player in singles.
She made her top-ten debut in the WTA rankings towards the end of the 2018 season and has been ranked as high as world No. 8 achieved on October 24, 2022.
Daria has won six WTA Tour titles in singles as well as one title in doubles.
A star on the rise.
Daria was born in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast.
Tolyatti is an industrial city located about 620 miles southeast of Moscow.
Her father works as an engineer at the Volga Automotive Plant and her mother was a lawyer.
Born to athletic parents who were nationally ranked in athletics and ice hockey, Daria began playing tennis at the age of six at the urging of her older brother.
Great idea.
Daria excelled as a junior, winning the European 16s championship and one junior Grand Slam singles title at the 2014 French Open.
She quickly ascended up the professional rankings, reaching No. 32 in the world while still 18 years old and winning her first WTA title in 2017 as a teenager at the Charleston Open.
She rose to prominence in 2018 by finishing runner-up to fellow up-and-coming player Naomi Osaka at the Premier Mandatory Indian Wells Open in a match regarded as representing a new wave of women’s tennis.
There’s much more.
Daria also has won the biggest titles of her career at the Kremlin Cup and at the St. Petersburg Trophy at home in Russia.
With that resume, to say she was ready to play on the world’s largest tennis stage at the US Open, is an understatement. Still, she had a sense of humor.
Daria – Left
When walking out of the tunnel to face the new world’s number one player in Aryna Sabalenka, she was happy to promote her YouTube channel.
Haven’t seen that before.
It was cute. Great to see that she has a relaxed personality before one of the biggest matches in her young life.
Oaky, we are intrigued, so we traveled to her Facebook. Absolutely worth a look. https://www.facebook.com/kasatkinadaria/
Since our luminary appears to like the spotlight, who are some of her sponsors?
In August of 2021, Daria signed an endorsement deal with Adidas for clothing, footwear, and apparel. So, while she is running around on the court, tracking those baseline shots down, what tennis shoes does she wear?
The informative source tennispassionate.com shares, “Daria Kasatkina tennis shoes are the Adidas Barricade. Also trusted by top players like Tsitsipas, Auger-Aliassime, and Korda, the Barricade is one of the most stable and comfortable Adidas tennis shoes.”
It appears that Daria is in great company.

As far as her racquet goes, she switched to Artengo racquets in 2022 after trying different racquets in a blind test.
We are not as familiar with Artengo as we are with other racquets.
We are very familiar with, say, Wilson racquets. Have you heard of Artengo?
Let’s get some basics.
Artengo is owned by a company named Decathlon.
Decathlon is a French sporting goods retailer. With over 2080 stores in 56 countries and regions (2023), it is the largest sporting goods retailer in the world.
Did you know that? In the entire world. Who would have thought?
The company manages the research, design, production, logistics and distribution of its products in-house; partners with global suppliers; and markets its own brands directly to consumers in Decathlon-branded big-box stores.
The retailer stocks a wide range of sporting goods, from tennis rackets to advanced scuba diving equipment, usually in large, big-box superstores.
Decathlon Group markets its products under more than 20 brands. Its research and development facilities are located across France, where the company develops its product designs, registering up to 40 patents per year.
That is overwhelming. It falls into the category of, the more we know, the more we are astounded by how much we don’t know.
Daria partners with a huge and powerful company.
Time to visit Artengo.
At artengo.com they educate, “Artengo it’s a professional team very passionate about the rackets sport around the same desire: a product development which is becoming better and better for you.
All of our teams look after and listen to the tennis players, our Artengo teams try to understand what they want and consult some professional players and coaches on the circuit.”
Intriguing.
Daria likes to play sports in general, including football. She is a fan of FC Barcelona.
The more we get to know Daria, the more we want to know about her. You should really visit her social media. It will take you into subject matter that FCI normally does not cover, but is no less intriguing.
The war, emanating from Russia, has turned the world upside down, including the tennis world, where Ukraine players will not shake hands with Daria, and she understands that and has publicly spoken out about be against the war. That can create you enemies.
On her Facebook, she states, “Official Facebook page of Daria Kasatkina, the player of EMPIRE Tennis Academy in Trnava, Slovakia.”
Trnava is a city in western Slovakia, 29 miles to the northeast of Bratislava, on the Trnávka River. It is the capital of the Trnava Region and the Trnava District.
It appears, Daria made a decision not to live in Russia.
It takes courage and risk.
She is already becoming one of our favorite players to watch.
So, we watched her through mesmerizing eyes when she competed at the 2023 US Open.
As of this October 12, 2023 reporting, the WTA website has Daria ranked at number 12 in the world.
Daria has earned her way into being one of the top players in the world.
We plan to re-visit her progress before and during the 2024 Australian Open in January.
Our suggestion is for you to come along as well.
