July 29, 2024,
Are you young?
Be extremely happy. You have time for many things. To change many things.
One of the challenges of being old is that, in terms of regret, you just don’t have the time to change things or undo major regrets.
The beauty of being young is that you do. There is a key to that.
Begin to recognize the signs that you may need to change.
From our view, there are three major factors that you will regret if you don’t pursue change.
Financial.
Relationships.
Employment.
One of the greatest regrets that one of our older associates has, who doesn’t have the retirement she wants, was that she didn’t heavily pursue money when she was young. Like many in our circle, she was formally a part of an international organized religion that demanded so much of her time.
Time she should have spent making money.
When you are young, your body is healthier and your mind more wide open. This is the time to financially prepare for your future. Don’t wait. Even if you don’t fully know what you want your future to be, whatever future it is, it will always take a lot of money.
Look at this key statistic.
According to the global news leader CNN, “The number of US cities where first-time homebuyers are faced with at least a $1 million price tag on the average entry-level home has nearly tripled in the past five years, according to new research.”
Shocking.
The article goes on to add Zillow indicates that a typical starter home is now worth $1 million or more in 237 cities, up from 84 cities in 2019.
Which brings us to wages.
Here, a college degree is critical. If you rely on basic or minimum wage, how will you ever purchase a home for you and your family?
As posted on May 17, 2024, by bankrate.com, “The average projected starting salary in the U.S. for the class of 2024 at the bachelor’s degree level is $68,516, according to a Bankrate analysis of NACE data.”
Our thinking?
Lessen your chances of regrets by making far more money than you need and save as much as possible for years to come. It is a new world and a very expensive one. And, think about it. One day you may find yourself in a long term relationship where you are plotting your future together.
Until you are not.
This is a sensitive area, so we won’t stay here long.
If you find yourself in a long term relationship that is not working out, at what point do you need to chart another course? The mistake that some make is that they feel they have to stick certain situations out.
Marriage is different.
There is counseling and therapy. As far as a person can, we believe they should make their marriage work, especially if they have children. It is before you are married that you may need to ask some tough questions.
Do both of you look to the future with a similar viewpoint?
Do you continue to argue about important things?
Is one person not pulling their weight over a long period of time with little signs of progress?
We could go on, but before you get married, you have to ask yourself if they are the future you want.
Don’t be afraid to change.
Have you heard of Synchronicity?
What is it and how does it relate to change?
It is a concept introduced by analytical psychologist Carl Jung to describe events that coincide in time and appear meaningfully related, yet lack a discoverable causal connection.
Let’s walk over to the bookstore.

We love to entertain many schools of thought.

Makes good sense.
It reminds us of an ancient tale. A true accounting.
RMS Titanic was a British ocean liner that sank on April 15, 1912 as a result of striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City.
Of the estimated 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, 1,496 died, making the incident the deadliest sinking of a single ship at the time.
The Titanic, operated by the White Star Line, carried some of the wealthiest people in the world, as well as hundreds of emigrants from the British Isles, Scandinavia, and elsewhere in Europe who were seeking a new life in the United States and Canada.
Now for the point.
The Titanic received a series of warnings from other ships of drifting ice in the area of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, but Captain Smith ignored them.
One of the ships to warn Titanic was the Atlantic Line’s Mesaba. Nevertheless, Titanic continued to steam at full speed.
You see, the warning signs were ignored.
In your young life, if you are not happy with your job, career pathway or relationship that is deeply not working, unlike the Titanic, don’t get stuck. Don’t wait until it is too late to turn around.
You are young, you don’t have to.
