March 16, 2025,
Some things in life you never get used to.
A plate full of red beets and carrot juice to chase it down.
Listening to grandpa sing.
Listening to Dr. Smith scream.
Watching the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs (We’re from Texas).
Watching a low ranked tennis player upset a star, who was sick or had a bad day, then watching that same low ranked player get demolished in the next round.
Oh we could go and we’re certain you have your list but one thing we left off our list, and we will add it here, is reading about or listening to, a professional tell us that crypto is a legitimate source of revenue that you can actually use.
We cannot get used to that. At least not yet.
We will take a $20 bill over twice the amount of crypto any day. One of our associates stated that crypto belongs in a crypt. Okay, that sounds a little harsh. And to be honest, we thought crypto was a fad that had gone away but apparently it has not.
Look at a recent headline.
The team at cryptoninjas.net posted, “When Sacks took on his advisory position at the White House, he divested over $200 million worth of holdings in cryptocurrency to comply with government ethics rules.”
Now, what surprises us here is not that Mr. Sacks sold his crypto currency but that he had $200 million of it in the first place.
Maybe our problem is that we just don’t understand it well. Again. Because we have read about it before. Time to re-examine.
A crypto currency is a digital currency designed to work through a computer network that is not reliant on any central authority, such as a government or bank, to uphold or maintain it.
Now that definition already makes us nervous. If you have a problem, who do you go to?
Individual coin ownership records are stored in a digital ledger or blockchain, which is a computerized database that uses a consensus mechanism to secure transaction records, control the creation of additional coins, and verify the transfer of coin ownership.
Okay. We’re starting to get a little dizzy.
Before we do, let’s talk about Bitcoin.

Bitcoin works through the collaboration of computers, each of which acts as a node in the peer-to-peer bitcoin network. Each node maintains an independent copy of a public distributed ledger of transactions, called a blockchain, without central oversight.
Transactions are validated through the use of cryptography, making it practically impossible for one person to spend another person’s bitcoin, as long as the owner of the bitcoin keeps certain sensitive data secret.
Consensus between nodes about the content of the blockchain is achieved using a computationally intensive process based on proof of work, called mining, which is typically performed by purpose-built computers called miners.
That definition is a little more understandable but does not motivate us to invest.
Let’s walk over to the book store for some motivation.

Sounds intriguing.
A friend of ours related that crypto is something to invest in when your other investments are rock solid and you have play money to invest. Only then would he even consider crypto.
So, where can you spend crypto? You might be surprised.
The informative team at crypto.com posts, “Below is a sampling of the 150-plus stores where Crypto.com shoppers use their BTC holdings to purchase products, from everyday staples and luxury brands to technology and travel accommodation services.”
They go on to list Apple, Best Buy, Bloomingdales, Disney, Expedia, Nike, Playstation, Pottery Barn, Walmart and more.
The world is changing in crypto’s favor because we can remember a time when you could not compile a list of these well known retailers who would accept crypto.
Still, over time, Bitcoin appears have done very well.
According to the team at bankrate.com, “Here’s how much a $1,000 investment in Bitcoin is worth today if you’d invested one year ago, five years ago, 10 years ago and 15 years ago. The calculation is based on $87,052, which is about where Bitcoin traded on Feb. 26, 2025.”
Sounds promising.
The good news for Bitcoin is that it does actually seem to have stabilized and presented tremendous growth. The key for many of us is wrapping our brains around what it is.
As far as investing in crypto and associated Bitcoin, we’re becoming more of a believer.
