Abundant like the sands of the sea, many parents cherish so many rich vacation memories taking their children to faraway and fun places.
While there, children love to escape the ordinary pursuits that they can do back home but one thing that never seems to change or get boring is purchasing Skechers sneakers and associating them with a vacation experience.
Makes for great back to school yarns told to friends.
With colorful gestures.
Skechers USA, Inc. is an American lifestyle and performance footwear company. Headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California, the brand was founded in 1992 and is now the third largest athletic footwear brand in the United States.
The third largest? We didn’t know that.
Skechers was founded in 1992 by Mr. Robert Greenberg, who had previously founded L.A. Gear in 1978.
He stepped down as CEO of L.A. Gear the same year he founded Skechers.
Mr. Greenberg made the wise decision to focus on the casual footwear market.
Skechers’ early products were utility-style boots and skate shoes. The company has since diversified to include athletic and casual styles for men, women, and children, as well as performance shoes.
Those exceptional choices have continued to make Skechers very popular and profitable in a sometimes volatile retail market.
As reported at labusinessjournal.com on February 14, 2020, “or Skechers USA Inc., 2019 was a “milestone year,” according to Chief Operating Officer David Weinberg.
The Manhattan Beach-based footwear manufacturer and retailer surpassed $5 billion in revenue and set records in each quarter last year, Weinberg said.”
They truly are one of the Big Three in athletic footwear.
Time for a closer look.
At their home investors.skechers.com they offer, “A multi-billion-dollar, award-winning global brand, Skechers designs and develops lifestyle and performance product known for style, innovation, quality and comfort. Along with its diverse footwear offering, the Company’s head-to-toe collections for men, women and kids include a growing range of apparel and accessories.
With international business representing more than half of its total sales, Skechers has product available in more than 170 countries and significant opportunities for continued expansion worldwide. The Company sells its collections through third-party wholesale partners and directly to consumers via more than 3,550 Skechers retail stores and e-commerce platforms.”
They also have friends big on the Social Media in high places.
Skechers uses celebrity-driven advertising, and has promoted its products with celebrities including recording artists Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello, baseball players Clayton Kershaw, David Ortiz, and football players Tony Romo and Howie Long.
The Skechers Performance Division has featured elite runner Meb Keflezighi, and pro golfers Matt Kuchar, Brooke Henderson, and Wesley Bryan. In 2014, Skechers signed an endorsement deal with musician Ringo Starr.
More partnerships are in their future and to some, one with a very surprising but “makes perfect sense” pathway.
Skechers Collaborates with Goodyear on Footwear
A range of Skechers styles feature Goodyear rubber technology outsoles for enhanced grip, stability and durability
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif., Feb. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Global footwear powerhouse Skechers is building on the technology in its footwear through a new collaboration with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ: GT). Select styles across multiple categories for men, women and kids will utilize Goodyear rubber technology in custom Skechers outsoles that will deliver increased grip, stability and durability.
“This collaboration is an example of two trusted brands coming together to create a high-tech product that will truly benefit our consumer,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “Through this effort, select products will feature Goodyear Performance Outsoles, offering that extra edge where it’s needed most—be it enhanced stability on a run, excellent grip over slippery surfaces in the workplace, or durability on the playground for long-lasting wear. We expect this will resonate with our customers who need these innovations in the comfortable Skechers footwear that they love.”
“Goodyear has always worked to create innovative products that provide consumers with high-performance tires, and now we’re using that same ingenuity to enable consumers to wear high-performance shoes,” said Christian Jurado, Goodyear’s global director of licensed products.
The shoes, featuring Goodyear Performance Outsoles, are designed for durability with long-lasting wear, excellent grip on a variety of surfaces and weather conditions and enhanced stability through exceptional traction. This is made possible with Goodyear-developed rubber technology that contains a special polymer including sustainable soybean oil—a renewable, bio-based material used in some of the company’s top-performing tires – available in the U.S. and Canada – the Assurance® WeatherReady®, Eagle® Exhilarate® and Eagle® Enforcer® All Weather® and the Assurance ComfortDrive®.
Initially launched on three running shoes from the Skechers GOrun collection, the range of styles featuring Goodyear Performance Outsoles now includes a wider assortment of running and walking sneakers and will expand through 2020 to athletic lifestyle, trail, and work footwear categories for men and women, as well as kids’ styles.
Skechers styles featuring Goodyear Performance Outsoles are available at Skechers retail stores, www.skechers.com, and select retail partners.
